In November 2025 I released frameit.dev, a free, open-source tool for creating professional video thumbnails, title cards and social media graphics. Whether you're a content creator on YouTube, TikTok, or Twitter, frameit.dev makes it easy to create eye-catching graphics without paid software or design skills.
I built it because I was tired of the friction in creating thumbnails for my content. Most tools require paid subscriptions, are bloated with features you don't need, or force you to create an account just to export a single image. I wanted something fast, free, and zero-barrier - just open it, customize your graphic, and download or copy to clipboard.
The tool uses the HTML5 Canvas API for real-time preview and instant image generation. Built with React 19, TypeScript 5, Vite 5, and Tailwind CSS 3, it's deployed on Cloudflare Pages for fast global delivery. The entire application runs in your browser with no backend required - your designs never leave your device until you choose to export them.
I open-sourced the entire codebase on GitHub because I think it's a useful reference for building lightweight, high-performance web applications with modern React. The platform-specific presets, independent text color controls, gradient backgrounds, and logo opacity adjustments all work together to create a polished result in seconds.
